Delivering Rapid Knowledge Acquisition & Skills Deployment

Download Learning are world leaders in the application of neuroscience and physiology to learning, and pioneers of time sequenced learning.

Our Mission

Businesses are increasingly upskilling and reskilling their workforces. This is an expensive and time consuming process. Our mission is to transform training to enable rapid knowledge transfer and skills deployment using breakthrough neuroscience led techniques.

We are dedicated to enabling all learners to optimise their potential, regardless of neurotype, in order to build competence, confidence and purpose.

We believe in providing individuals with the tools and know-how that enable them to flourish.

Neuroscience Led Learning

Download is driven by the neuroscience through which Long Term Memories are formed, retained, and recalled. We apply this neuroscience to significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the learning blend.

By stimulating (and firing) specific synapses in the brain in a distinct time sequence, it is possible to embed infomation in the Long-Term Memory within one session.

This means that students learn more, retain it for longer, and are better able to apply it in real life situations.

Proven to Deliver

Download has been built from the ground up using world leading neuroscience research and has been validated in numerous studies.

The largest ever study into learning methods by The University of Surrey found that Download:
  • significantly improved knowledge acquisition
  • enhanced the ability of students to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts
  • enabled students to effectively extend their knowledge into new contexts
In real world application we have been able to reduce learning times by 75 - 96% whilst delivering equal or better learning outcomes.

Maximise Impact

Our approach drastically reduces the time spent instructing teams: we took a pre-existing 2 day 'Stop & Search' course for 5,000 Surrey & Sussex Police officers and condensed it into just 1 hour saving some 10,000 days of frontline policing, with no loss of learning outcome.

This means you can maximise the impact of learning with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

Love Learning

"The learners really engaged with it. The pace and intensity of the information coming in to you, you find yourself concentrating really strongly against it. One of the other benefits that we found is that disruption and learners not taking to the classroom content has practically gone away, including learners coming into the College with special learning needs: people who couldn't concentrate for long periods of time, learners who struggled to write content down and to retain it."

Services

Our services fit into three main areas;

 -       Programme and course design.

 -       The creation of bespoke digital learning modules based upon the Download methodology.

 -       Behaviour change; the creation of learning culture/buy-in to ensure training is embraced and news skills applied.

Supporters

Download™ has been successfully piloted and used by public and private sector organisations including Crossrail/TFL, NHS, global healthcare companies, the Police and one of the world's largest tech companies.

And we are proud to have collaborated with the University of Surrey to research application in education, CITB to support apprenticeship development, and the Institute of Physics with whom we are researching the delivery of GCSE curriculum.

Adam Beard
Managing Director

I never thought that a career working in and running creative agencies, developing strategies and campaigns for global brands, such as Guinness, Toyota and Pepsi, across international markets would lead to, and be a good background for a second career in education and training.

I arrived here [Download Learning] via time spent in innovation consultancy and it turns out that the combination of skills that Simon and I developed during our careers in marketing communications is perfect when you are developing a radically new learning solution.

I've always been frustrated by the status quo, impatient to find a better way. I believe that, with the development of Download™, we have found a better way to help people to learn.

In my spare time I can be found getting overexcited about Harlequins, seeking out new craft beers and promising myself that next week I'll start restoring the classic TVR that has sat on my drive for far too long.

I'd love the opportunity to tell you more about what we do, how we do it and our vision for how it can transform learning, both in organisational training and education.

Simon Strong
Learning & Design Director

My interest in creativity, in how ideas are communicated, and in human behaviour were nurtured in the advertising industry (Saatchi & Saatchi), and then in my own consultancy work (where I got to work with Desmond Morris and Keith Johnstone).

I came to understand that humans are innately curious – we want to explore, know and order the world around us.

And also that humans have vivid imaginations – we’re able to work ideas through in our minds, combine and reconfigure elements, and create plans to make our ideas manifest.

The step in between exploring and creating is learning – where we commit what we discover to memory, so we can call on it at some future date.

But learning is difficult, hard work, and frustratingly unreliable – we fail to remember things we want to remember, and remember things we’d rather forget…

As Director of Learning Design, I am able to bring together all my interests to enable learners to acquire knowledge and skills that can be applied in real world contexts efficiently and effectively.

I live in the Surrey Hills with my wife, 2 teenage boys, 2 chickens, a cat, and a dog. At weekends I can be found holding up traffic as I putter about on my classic Royal Enfield motorbike.
